Service Guideline

What is It?

"Ask a Librarian" provides an electronic reference service by e-mail. In addition to the Reference      Desk, it serves as an additional channel to ask reference and research related questions.

For in-depth questions, we recommend a visit to the Library where you can consult with a duty
librarian. You may also call the Reference Desk at 3411-7363.

What Types of Questions May I Ask?

  Requests for brief factual information.

About which library resources to use.

About the HKBU library resources, service, and facilities.

  Help on formulating search strategies.

In-depth research questions (a longer response time will be required and a face-to-face
appointment may be arranged as necessary.)

Who can Use?

The service is intended primarily for the students, faculty and staff of the HKBU, and the
    University affiliates.

For users from non-HKBU community, only basic factual information or referral service may be
    provided.

When will I Receive a Response?

Enquiries will be acknowledged within 24 hours (excluding Friday evenings, weekends, and
    public holidays).

Enquiries on in-depth research questions will be responded to within 48 hours and/or
face-to-face appointment may be arranged for a detailed discussion.

Who will Take Care of My Enquiries?

Your enquiries will be handled by the professional librarians.
