RESEARCH at HKBU

Professor Johnathan Harrington "The Necessary Good": Digital literacy for the next generation

Professor Johnathan Harrington, Assistant Professor of the Department of English Language and Literature, has incorporated coding skills into the curriculum of his Virtual Storytelling course, which exemplifies a transformative trend in the humanities: the necessity of leveraging technology to craft engaging narratives. He says: "Students in the humanities must have some degree of digital literacy." Central to his innovative pedagogy is his encouragement for students to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new learning experiences.
