The Library's demerit point system is intended to discourage the following undesirable behaviours:
Eating, drinking, and/or displaying food and beverage, except in the Learning Commons on Level 2
Making excessive noise in open areas and causing disturbance to others
Borrowing a Library card from others
Lending a Library card to others
Defacing or intentionally damaging Library materials, equipment, and furnishings
Intentionally taking Library materials out of the Library without checking them out
Any other improper behaviour that may cause annoyance to other users and staff members in the Library or disrupt the normal routine of the Library
Users that engage in the above undesirable behaviours will be penalized according to the table below:

The Library will take appropriate actions based on the number of demerit points accumulated according to the table below:

Name recorded and the user banned from borrowing library materials for 2 weeks.

Name recorded. User's School/Department and/or the Office of Student Affairs will be notified when necessary. User will be banned from entering the Library for 4 weeks.
Please note:
The demerit point balance will be reset to zero after reaching 20.
