The Learning Commons is an area to facilitate both private study and group discussions. Different types of study space are provided, some of which can be reconfigured based on user needs.
Using the dedicated hotline, users can seek assistance from both librarians and language centre staff without leaving the Learning Commons. For IT problems and software questions, a TelePresence system allows users to get face-to-face assistance from the ITO Helpdesk.
The Library's policy on food and drink is relaxed in the Learning Commons. Users may consume drinks and light snacks in this area, and vending machines are available. However, meals (such as lunchboxes, pizzas, noodles, etc.) should not be brought into the Learning Commons.
We aim to support academic success and personal growth by providing the space, resources, technology, and services that are conducive to and supportive of student learning. We encourage discussion, collaboration, and consultation, both with peers and with a variety of experts.
In addition to the Main Library's regular opening hours, the Learning Commons has extended opening hours during certain periods. Please refer to the Opening Hours page for the latest announcements regarding the extended opening hours of the Learning Commons (if any).
Access to the Learning Commons from inside the Library will be closed off fifteen minutes prior to the Library's normal closing time. Users who want to enter or exit the Learning Commons after the other areas of the Library are closed should use the outside stairway next to the Library.
LEARNING EVENTS
Learning Events are small, interactive sessions that are intended to broaden the student learning experience. A variety of different topics are covered, including information literacy, language learning, information technology skills, and more.
