Hong Kong Academic Library Link (HKALL)

HKALL (Hong Kong Academic Library Link) is a project in accelerated resource sharing among eight local university libraries. With HKALL, eligible HKBU users can request materials from other UGC-funded libraries directly. The requested materials will be delivered to our Library for further checkout. Users' access to the materials they need is improved as it does not involve intermediary manual processing. Details of this new service are as follows:

Requesting Materials

Books that our Library does not hold or that have been checked out, but that are held by other libraries with the status "AVAILABLE" in HKALL can be requested. Users can search HKALL by either one of the following ways:

Transferring a search from our Library Catalogue to HKALL by clicking the button "HKALL"
which appears at the top of the screen alongside the other buttons.

Visiting http://hkall.hku.hk directly, then conducting a new search.

Recalls

HKALL books are subject to recall by users at the lending library. For staff and students who have University email accounts, the Library will send email messages to inform you of the new due date of the recalled item. Please check your email regularly. There will be a higher fine for the overdue recalled items.

Cancellation of Requests

Users can only cancel the requests that are still under the status "HKALL REQUESTD". Cancellation can be done on My Library Account by viewing your own circulation record. If the lending library has already transferred the requested items to our Library, the status of the book will become "IN TRANSIT" or "HKALL RECEIVED" and users cannot cancel the request at this stage.

The lending library may also cancel the request if the requested book is
       Not found on the shelf
Checked out by a local patron
Found not suitable for loan (e.g. fragile, etc.)

Users will be notified by email if the request is cancelled.

HKALL books are to be returned directly to the Main Library's Circulation Counter. Please do not use book drop for HKALL books.
