About Fulltext Finder

Fulltext Finder helps you to determine whether a specific journal article is available in the Library's collection. It can often link you directly to the fulltext of that article, and where it cannot do so, it helps you to check via the Library Catalogue whether or not we subscribe to the journal you need. Fulltext Finder does not search for articles on a topic. For topic searching, you should make use of one of the Library Databases.

Please note that Fulltext Finder only works for English language articles.

Using Fulltext Finder

Enter as much information about the article as you have into the Fulltext Finder form, then click on the Search button. A new window will open with the some or all of the following options:

  1. A link to the full text of the article (if available)
  2. A link to search the Library Catalogue for the journal title
  3. Links to Internet search engines

Fulltext links

Sometimes Fulltext Finder will not provide a link to the fulltext, and sometimes even if a link is provided, it will not be able to successfully direct you to the fulltext. This is a result of the different ways that individual vendors provide access to their content.

If multiple fulltext links are provided, try all of them if the first one does not work. If no working link is provided, click on the link to search the title in the Library Catalogue. This will allow you to either:

  1. Find the link to the e-journal (if the Library subscribes to it), where you can browse for the specific article you need
  2. Find the location of the print journal (if the Library has it), so you can view a hard copy of the article
  3. Confirm that the Library does not have print or electronic access to the journal

Eligible users can use the Library's Interlibrary Loan Service to request the fulltext of articles for which the Library does not have access.

For assistance in using Fulltext Finder, please feel free to consult the duty librarian in person at the Reference Desk, telephone the duty librarian on 3411-7363, or use the online Ask a Librarian service.
