MyLibrary Calendar Wins the 2008 Be Innovative! Awards

University Library's new "MyLibrary Calendar", launched in December 2007, has won the 2008 Be Innovative! Awards -- Most Innovative Patron Services category. The recognition this year brings special honors and encouragement to us as this is the second time that the Library has won the Be Innovative! Awards in seven years for her innovative efforts to enhance library services and operations. This Be Innovative! Awards program is held annually by Innovative Interfaces, Inc. which provides integrated library systems to over 4,500 libraries over the world. Awards are given to libraries which have demonstrated the creative and outstanding uses of Innovative products.

The award winning "MyLibrary Calendar" is a joint effort of Mr. Li Yiu-on (Systems Section), Ms. Loletta Chan (Circulation & Interlibrary Loan Section) and Ms. Irene Wong (Special Collections & Archives) to facilitate library patrons to use their own personal iCalendar compatible calendar applications as a single, one-stop personal platform to collect and manage library records and calendar events.

Two types of calendars are available:

1. "Library Event Calendar" is available for any person who is interested in receiving the latest news of HKBU Library services, facilities, opening hours and outreach activities.

2. "Personal Library Calendar" is available for HKBU Library borrower card holders only. It allows library patrons to collect and manage the data of their library circulation records, interlibrary loan records and group study and group viewing room bookings.
