Undergraduate degree

• Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English Language & Literature and BEd (Hons.) in English Language Teaching Programme is a programme leading to the award of two Honours degrees.  it will provide students with thorough preparation in two distinct disciplines: English Language & Literature and Education Studies.  During the summer preceding Year III, students will embark on a 6-8 week Overseas Immersion Programme to further enhance their English proficiency and cultural awareness in an intensely English-speaking environment.

• Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in History Programme aims to develop students' critical thinking and analytical ability in understanding historical events, with an emphasis on Sino or Asian-Western relations, and on Chinese, Western, Asian and local Hong Kong history.

• Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in History and Bachelor of Education (Hons.) in Liberal Studies Teaching; Bachelor of Social Sciences in (Hons.) Geography and Bachelor of Education (Hons.) in Liberal Studies Teaching; and Bachelor of Social Sciences in (Hons.) Sociology and Bachelor of Education (Hons.) in Liberal Studies Teaching are three programmes offered by Department of Education Studies in collaboration with Departments of Geography, History and Sociology respectively.  All of them provide students with thorough preparation in twp disciplines, leading to the award of two degrees.

• Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Physical Education and Recreation Management aims to provide knowledge and practical experience in the discipline of physical education and recreation, as well as the training of sports leaders and PE teachers.

• Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Mathematical Science and Bachelor of Education (Hons.) in Mathematics Teaching Programme equips students with extensive knowledge and skills in two disciplines as well as a recognised teaching qualification.

• Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.) in China Studies is an inter-disciplinary programme that focuses on China. Concentrations such as Geography, History and Sociology are taught by departments in the Faculty of Social Sciences. A distinctive feature of this Programme is the Summer Sojourn programme. It requires all students to spend five weeks at the Tsinghua University in Beijing to integrate the knowledge they learn about China with personal experiences.

• Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.) in European Studies is unique in Hong Kong. The Programme offers the option to specialize in either French or German, and focuses on European Studies that China Studies relates to government and international relations. Students spend their third year of university study in Europe with an opportunity for internship with a local company.

• Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.) in Geography Programme provides students a knowledge of the spatial order, and interdependence of peoples and regions.  It also emphasizes in problem solving in the area of environmental and socio-spatial development.

• Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.)  in Government and International Studies Programme aims to provide students a solid foundation in three main areas of political science in comparative aspects: first, the internal structures and processes of the state; second, the relations between states, and third, the theory of the state.  In addition, the Major also focuses on the role of international governmental and non-governmental organisations and regimes as well as on non-sovereign actors quasi-states in the international scene.  Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.) in Sociology Programme concerns the study of dialectic relationship of individuals and society.  It is concerned with how an individual understands the social world and how social structures are organised.

• Bachelor of Social Work (Hons.) offers training in theory and practice of social work. Students will take up their practical training during their study.

• Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.) in Psychology is a 3-year degree programme offered for graduates of associate degree programmes.  It aims to help students develop life goals and foster a positive attitude towards learning.  The programme also provides them with a thorough understanding of the discipline, particularly in the areas of clinical, developmental and educational psychology.

• Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sport and Recreation Leadership Programme is a 3-year degree programme offered for graduates of associate degree programmes who wish to develop a career in the sport and recreation industry.  A special focus is placed on the planning and the delivery of sport and recreation programmes to persons with special needs such as disabilities, developmental concerns and older adults.

• Diploma in Education is a full-time programme that provides teacher training alongside the major academic study.

• Postgraduate Diploma in Education is a part-time 2-year programme for in-service secondary school teachers.

• Postgraduate Diploma in Education is a full-time 1-year programme that provides professional training of teachers' education.

• Master of Education is a part-time 2-year or full-time 1-year programme for educators and professionals who have an interest in the field of, and specialised areas in, education.

• Master of Social Sciences in Teaching and Learning is a part-time 2-year programme that develops students' leadership in curriculum planning and implementation and advance their professional knowledge in emerging pedagogies for their own subject specialists through action learning.

• Master of Public Administration is a part-time 2-year programme that sharpens students' understanding of public administration, such as in the Mainland and Hong Kong, in a comparative and global perspective.

• Master of Social Sciences (Contemporary China Studies) is a part-time 2-year or full-time 1-year programme that provides students with a systematic training in and critical understanding of contemporary China from political, historical, geographical and sociological perspectives.

• Master of Social Sciences in European Studies (Sino - European Relations) is a part-time 2 year programme that trains students in the understanding of the main features of society in contemporary Europe and China and of European-Chinese cultural, economic and political relations.

• Master of Social Sciences in Sport and Leisure Management is a part-time 2-year or full-time 1-year programme that provides opportunities for students to take a reflective and interdisciplinary approach to the planning, provision, and management of sport and leisure.

• Master of Social Sciences in Social Work is a part-time 2-year programme that educates students to achieve the academic and professional qualification which is considered eligible for registration as Registered Social Workers in Hong Kong.

• Master of Social Sciences in Youth Counselling is a part-time 2-year programme that develops students knowledge in youth analysis and research, and equips them with selected youth counselling perspectives, methods, and practice skills, and with particular weight in narrative therapy.

• Master of Social Work is a part-time 2-year programme that enhances the professional competence of practising social workers and provides an opportunity for them to reflect on professional practice from a broader perspective.

• M. Phil. and Ph.D. (by research). Both M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes (in either full-time or part-time mode) are offered in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
