ADMISSIONS GRADES ACHIEVED BY THE MEDIAN & LOWER QUARTILE APPLICANTS IN PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY HONG KONG BAPTIST UNIVERSITY (HKBU)

Introduction
The Admission Grades contained here is based on the subject passes achieved by the applicants whose positions are
(a) in the middle ("median"); and
(b) 3/4 way down ("lower quartile")
of the JUPAS Main Round offer ranking list of each of the programmes offered by HKBU in the respective years.
The HKCEE and HKALE grades shown may be obtained from more than one sitting.
As not all programmes select students on the basis of HKALE and HKCEE grades alone and the actual grades of the students admitted to each programme may vary from year to year (depending on the overall grades achieved by applicants in a particular year, the number of applicants applying to the programme, changes in selection criteria, etc.), information on this web page is for reference only, and should not be used to predict the chance of admission to any programme in subsequent years.
UNIVERSITY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The following is a list of the University Admission Requirements for applicants seeking admission to the programmes of HKBU in September 2006, on the strength of their HKCEE and HKALE results. This simplified list is for information only. Bachelor's Degree Programmes
HKALE Requirements
Grade E or above in any two sittings in:
1. either: 2 AL subjects
or: 1 AL subject plus 2 AS subjects; and
2. Grade E or above in AS Chinese Language & Culture (a); and
3. Grade E or above in AS Use of English (b).
HKCEE Requirements
Grade E or above in at least 6 subjects (c) including Chinese Language (or French or German) and English Language (Syllabus B) (d) with at least 5 subjects in a single sitting.
Notes:
(a) Those without a Chinese Language qualification at HKCEE level (substituted by French or German) must have an additional AL/AS subject to substitute for AS Chinese Language & Culture.
(b) Equivalences to Grade D and Grade E in AS Use of English are given in HKBU web site at http://www.hkbu.edu.hk/~ar/admissions/jupas/index.html.
(c) 5 subjects are acceptable if the total of these 5 grades is not less than 8 points (Grade A to E shall be given points 5 to 1 respectively).
(d) Grade C in English Language (Syllabus A) is considered equivalent to Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B).
