Internship and Career
Mentoring
Business internship can enhance students'
competitiveness for employment and future advancement.
The School offers two credit-bearing elective courses,
Business Internship and Marketing
Internship, for students to complete a
work assignment under the guidance of both faculty and
workplace supervisors. Every year, nearly 110 BBA students
gain practical experience from the courses.
In addition, students can also join
university-wide work attachment programmes such as the
Metropolitan Attachment Programme (MAP)
and the Global Attachment Programme
to work in overseas companies for 6-8 weeks during summer.
The School offers over 25 MAP Matching Scholarship
annually to sponsor business students to participate
in MAP. Nearly 100 BBA students work in London, Chicago,
Atlanta, Sydney, Melbourne, Beijing, Shanghai and the
Pearl River Delta every summer.
The Career Mentorship Programmes
help BBA students learn about the world of work. Students
are paired with mentors who are in senior posts in industry
or government. Through mentoring, students discover
practical information of different industries. They
also gain first-hand knowledge about their field of
study and build connections which can be invaluable
for their future career.

Service-Learning
Programme
The Service-Learning Programme and
the Student Ambassador Scheme are meant for nurturing
the service leadership of students and exposing them
to the evolving needs of the community, in keeping with
the School¡¦s mission and the Whole Person Education
philosophy of HKBU. Course-embedded service-learning
projects (SLP) have since been an exciting part of the
BBA curriculum. Students apply their business knowledge
and skills to solve operating problems of non-profit
organizations, such as preparing accounts, building
websites, conducting marketing research and training
courses, and some of them gain academic units from the
course-based projects.
Over 1,200 BBA students have served
more than 100 non-profit organizations in Hong Kong
and mainland China. The ideals of the Programme ¡V to
allow students to serve and learn ¡V earn wide recognition
and support from the community. In 2006, Dr. Wu Yee
Sun Charitable Foundation Limited donated HK$1 million
to further expand the programme, and nearly 80 BBA students
were awarded scholarships to serve the needy in mainland
China cities including Yunnan, Guizhou and Nanjing.
They were involved in projects organized by NGOs such
as the World Vision, Amity Foundation and Baptist Church
in China.
