Business Studies Concentration
China business has grown in importance
in Hong Kong. China's institutional setting, legal framework,
organisational behaviour, management style and business
practices constitute a business environment which is
very different from that of the Western world and Hong
Kong.
The China Business Studies Concentration of the BBA
(Hons) Degree Programme is a broadly-based business
programme, providing a systematic training of the institutional,
operational and behavioural aspects of China Business.
The specific objectives are to provide students with:
1. A clear understanding of the economic structure,
legal framework, and business environment of China.
2. The knowledge required for conducting China business,
with special emphasis on marketing and finance.
3. The ability to integrate the complex dimensions of
China business in making appropriate business and management
decisions.
4. Communication and interpersonal skills, with special
focus on Chinese organisational behaviour and Chinese
style of management.

What makes
a good CBS student?
A good CBS student should have a solid secondary school
education. In addition, this Concentration would be
suitable for someone who can accept the challenges of
doing business in China and would like to apply business
concepts and theories in the Chinese business context.
CBS students should be dynamic and have good communication
and interpersonal skills.

training, research, and consulting.
What professional
recognition can graduates get?
1. Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)
Graduates can directly enter the Advanced Certificate
Stage 2.
2. The Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries (HKICS)
and The Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators
(ICSA)
Exemptions are granted from all subjects in the Foundation
Programme of the HKICS/ICSA.
3. International Institute of Management (IIM)
Enrolled students and graduates are eligible to register
as Associate Members of the Institute.
