China Business Studies Concentration

Doing business with China and in China requires additional understanding of the business environment of the country, and in many instances this calls for different rules of operation. Traditional training, by itself, is inadequate in preparing China business executives for making efficient and effective decisions.

The BBA (Hons) Degree Programme with the Concentration in China Business Studies integrates broadly based cross-disciplinary business courses. The programme emphasizes modern management concepts and tools, with a systematic treatment of the institutional, operational and behavioural aspects of China business.

Graduates from this Concentration have a clear understanding of the economic structure, legal framework and business environment of China. In addition, they are also equipped with a working knowledge of conducting China business, better communication skills with the Chinese organisations, and the ability to make business and management decisions in the complex China business environment.

Objectives of the China Business Studies concentration are:

  1. To enable students to build a solid foundation in understanding how China¡¦s cultural, economic, legal and political environments affect business practices in China;
  2. To educate students with specialized knowledge that enables them to critically assess and systematically resolve business problems in China;
  3. To cultivate a global view of China business and equip students with skills to help Chinese firms to develop overseas markets or assist multinational corporations to exploit the Chinese markets;
  4. To provide necessary training in writing and presentation skills that enables students to communicate with Chinese business partners, consumers, clients, and employers effectively;
  5. To nurture a sense of ethics and social responsibility that prepares students to be visionary China business leaders.

Students can pursue additional graduation options including Double Concentration within BBA, or a Minor in non-business discipline
