118 Sixth Formers from 45 local secondary schools participated in the 2010 Summer Camp for Secondary School Students on 15-16 July. Organized by the School of Business for the fifth time, the camp offered the participants an opportunity to learn more about our BBA programme, make friends with peers and current university students, and experience the vibrant university life at HKBU through diverse activities including talk on 7 BBA Concentrations, team-building exercises, treasure hunt, graduate sharing sessions, campfire and business skills workshops.

Workshops on presentation skill, table manners, financial management and marketing skill were offered by our faculty members and students. Most of the participants found the workshops very interesting and practical. By attending the talk on BBA programme and graduates’ sharing sessions, participants also learned more about the BBA Concentrations and their career prospects, and exclusive developmental activities for BBA students.

One of the participants, Chong Tsun Yin from SKH Tsoi Kung Po Secondary School joined the summer camp as he is interested in learning about HKBU BBA and in experiencing the university life at HKBU. “I become more interested in Marketing and Human Resources Management after chatting with the graduates and knowing about the job natures,” Chong said.

Before joining the camp, Ngai Tsz Wun from Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College did not know whether BBA is her “Mr. Right”. After the talk on BBA Concentrations, she found herself interested in studying BBA. Ngai also took part in the table manners workshop. “The table manners skills will be useful in the future,” she said, “In the past, I thought the BBA programme only concentrates on academic studies. Now I know it also offers a lot of activities to enhance students’ competencies and abilities.”

來自四十五所本地中學的一百一十八位中六學生於七月十五及十六日參加了「『商識滿teen夏』夏令營2010」。今次為商學院第五年舉辦夏令營。參加者透過一系列的營會活動，如「暢談工商管理學院七大主修」、「探索浸大校園」及營火晚會等，不但對工商管理學士學位課程有進一步的了解，而且與其他參加者及商管生建立友誼，並體驗大學生活。

商學院教職員及學生在「營商必備才能工作坊」向參加者介紹演講技巧、餐桌禮儀、理財技巧及營銷技巧。大部份參加者均認為這些工作坊非常有趣及實用。另外，透過「暢談工商管理學院七大主修」講座與畢業生分享會，參加者對工商管理學士學位課程的各個主修及就業前景，以及商管生獨享的學生發展活動，有更深入的了解。

夏令營的其中一位參加者，來自聖公會蔡功譜中學的莊浚埏說，因為他對浸大工商管理學士學位課程有興趣，並且希望感受大學的生活，所以報名參加這個夏令營。「與畢業生談論他們現在的工作性質後，更認定自己對市場學和人力資源管理學有興趣。」莊同學說。

在參與夏令營之前，就讀保良局董玉娣中學的魏芷媛不清楚自己是否適合就讀工商管理課程。聽了「暢談工商管理學院七大主修」講座後，她了解到自己對商科很感興趣。魏同學還參加了餐桌禮儀工作坊，並認為︰「餐桌禮儀的技巧很實用，將來可以大派用場。我最初以為工商管理學士學位課程只著重學術知識，現在才知道原來還有這麼多培育學生素質的活動。」
