What are AACSB Assurance
of Learning (AOL) Standards?
AACSB Assurance of Learning
(AOL) standards evaluate how well a school accomplishes the educational
aims which should be at the core of its activities. The school must enunciate
its educational goals, measure progress against them and let its stakeholders
know how the school and its students have measured up.
The AACSB's AOL standards focus
on
- assessment of learning
goals at the
programme level
- direct assessment
of student learning
- accountability,
to assure that potential students, trustees, public officials, supporters
and professional bodies know that the programme meets its goals
- continuous improvement
Assurance of learning
should include
- Establishing learning objectives
for the students
- Aligning the curriculum
with the goals
- Identifying assessment
instruments and measures
- Collecting and analysing
the assessment information, and disseminating the results
- Closing the loop by using
the assessment results for continuous improvement
