What is AACSB International Accreditation?

AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is the largest and the longest standing specialised accrediting agency for business and accounting programme in the world. Founded by 17 prominent business schools in the US, such as Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, and Harvard University, AACSB has 570 accredited member institutions as of September 2009, and a total membership of about 1,200 business schools and majors companies in 71 countries.

As the world's largest accreditation association for business schools in the world, AACSB sets and administers the standards that indicate an accredited school's commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Schools seeking AACSB International Accreditation must fulfill 21 accreditation standards covering three aspects:

    • Student admission, retention and support
    • Faculty sufficiency and qualifications

    • Programme management and quality assurance for student learning
    • Interaction of faculty with students in the educational process
    • Achievement of learning goals in our degree programmes

Each standard assesses a school's performance in a critical area, such as teaching, research, curriculum development and student learning. Schools meeting the standards will be granted AACSB International Accreditation for their business programmes.
