Since its inception
in 1956, HKBU has been a pathfinder in business education
in Hong Kong and Asia. The School of Business has gained
in stature over the years. In April 2010, the School
has attained the AACSB International (The Association
to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International)
accreditation, an elite distinction being recognized
as a hallmark of excellence in management education
for business schools worldwide.
Founded in 1916, AACSB is the largest
and the longest standing specialized accrediting agency
for business and accounting programmes, with close to
600 accredited members representing less than 5% of
business schools worldwide. AACSB International
accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement
and our commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Over the years, the School has put forth tremendous
effort through development and implementation of plans
to meet the AACSB standards. These include the management
of resources to achieve a vibrant and relevant mission,
advancement of business and management knowledge as
well as high-caliber teaching of quality curricula.
The programmes that we offer, BBA,
BCom, MBA, MSc, DBA, MPhil and PhD, are intellectually
rigorous and have contemporary and professional relevance
aiming to nurture future business leaders capable of
meeting new challenges in a rapidly changing global
economy. We will continue to make new efforts to provide
our students more enriching learning opportunities.
The School has set aside the Admission Scholarship Scheme
to attract outstanding local and mainland students to
our BBA programme. The School will continue to seek
supports including scholarships and internship opportunities
from the community for our students. The School is also
actively exploring new exchange possibilities both overseas
and in mainland China to further expand our international
network.
The School continues to maintain a
strong emphasis on business ethics, corporate social
responsibility, corporate governance in our education
and research agenda, under the new strategic theme of
corporate sustainability. We have received funding support
from the University Strategic Development Fund for a
large-scale project entitled “Corporate Sustainability:
A Community Dialogue”, encompassing various research
activities, publications, public forums and seminar
series on corporate sustainability.
The HKBU School of Business is full
of potential and I am excited about the prospect and
future development. I know I can count on the support
of students, faculty, alumni and the community to help
us scale new heights.
