Student with "Cheer-up" work plan
wins award
An essay outlining a four-point plan to raise the
morale and confidence of Hong Kong employees has won
a HK$4,000 scholarship for a third-year human resources
management student at HKBU.
Winner of the scholarship, awarded by the Personnel
Management Club (PMC) of The Hong Kong Management
Association, is Cindy To.
Cindy's formula to increase morale and confidence
included adopting a comprehensive and flexible reward
system, fostering a cooperative and communicative
work culture, developing a pleasurable work environment,
and encouraging staff empowerment.
As well as submitting an essay, Cindy made a presentation
in English to a panel of judges, and attended a Q
& A session.
Three PMC scholarships are offered each year to final-year
Hong Kong undergraduates engaged in full-time studies
and majoring in human resources management.
Students from HKBU took the championship last year
and won second runner-up places in 2001 and 2002.
Currently, five Hong Kong universities offer human
resources management as a major.
