Business students shine in inter-varsity
biz paper contest
Eclipsing 138 groups from eight local universities,
a team of four from HKBU's School of Business has
swept all three awards of the inter-varsity Business
Administration Paper competition this year.
The team members are Janny Chan (Year 3, Human Resources
Management), Carrie Chan (Year 3, Human Resources
Management), Calvin Lee (Year 3, Finance) and Frankie
Liu (Year 3, Accounting). They won both the Championship
and the Innovation Idea Award, while Janny was named
the Best Presenter.
Participants were required to offer solutions to
a given scenario. This year's theme was "Improve
Hong Kong - My City". The BU team developed a
"CEPA-PLUS" proposal to capture the trade
and investment opportunities arising from CEPA.
The winning team and its coach Dr. Alicia Leung,
Associate Professor of the Management Department,
shared their insights at a media session today.
Their plans called for a Manufacturing and Distribution
Park in the Lok Ma Chau Loop, a one-stop e-Procurement
Centre, encouraging campus-business collaborations,
and other synergistic measures to enhance coordination
between the governments in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
The Business Administration Paper is an annual contest
hosted by the Hong Kong Federation of Business Students,
a not-for-profit body comprising student organisations
from the eight tertiary institutions. HKBU students
have been among the top three teams in the competition
since 1998.
