Three smart brains win jeans marketing award
HKBU has taken home the championship of a marketing
plan competition with a practical and innovative proposal
to launch a chain of new jeans stores in Hong Kong.
Three Year 3 business students, Terence Ho (Finance),
Adrian Tong (Marketing) and Catherine Yick (Marketing),
excelled from among 43 competing teams from seven
universities. Their winning project was titled "Unlimited
the Limited".
Participants had to submit plans based on real business
data of the competition organiser, Angel Garment Ltd.
The BU team interviewed 180 Hong Kong residents to
gauge consumers' buying habits, the size of the jeans
market and the company's share of it.
On the basis of the market analysis, they tailored
a set of recommendations for the company on product
positioning, pricing strategies, target segments and
retail locations to launch its new products in the
local market.
