Logistics Management Research Centre (LMRC)

The Logistics Management Research Centre (LMRC) in Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) focuses on the research, education and consultation of logistics management and manpower development in Hong Kong and the Mainland. LMRC is to:

  1. assist Hong Kong logistics firms to solve logistics management problems;
  2. embrace opportunity and challenge in CEPA and economic transition competently;
  3. fully utilize the power of "software" and system resources in a broad marketplace; and
  4. excel logistics operations and enterprises towards elegance.

Although the Centre is located in HKBU with great convenience and facilities, it works as an open operating platform to pull resources and capabilities of Hong Kong universities and industries in order to facilitate academic and industrial exchange of research, theories, application, practice, knowledge and experience. It collaboratively operates quality research activities, conference, forum, workshops, high-end education and training programs for Hong Kong and China logistics enterprises and management manpower. Base on this concept, LMRC is presented to you with details as follows.

 

Vision

LMRC strives for management excellence and elegance by providing insightful information and viewpoints of logistics management practice; serving logistics industry and companies with advanced knowledge and professional training, and adding value to logistics business performance.

Objectives

  1. To solve organizational and operational management problems of logistics enterprises for enhancing operational effectiveness and efficiency;
  2. To assist enterprises in structural and process changes, knowledge acquisition and sharing, and to develop innovative value-added logistics services;
  3. To assist enterprises in building and managing supply chain, inter-organizational relationship enhancement and business partner selection;
  4. To optimize outsourcing and third party logistics management practice;
  5. To provide high-end managerial manpower education and training, and transfer latest knowledge and research outputs into industrial knowledge and practice;
  6. To facilitate innovative organizational culture development, core business features and unique competitiveness of logistics firms;
  7. To develop logistics management benchmark, assessment manual and best practice guideline in specific logistics sectors for upgrading operational logistics management.

Activities and Preliminary Plan

  1. Regular research and industrial forum, seminar, workshop and symposium for Hong Kong enterprises and all fellows and members.
  2. Collaborations with professional logistics associations and societies for upgrading logistics industrial knowledge and literature.
  3. International and regional conferences to exchange latest development and knowledge in logistics management.
  4. Collaborative research and industrial projects with focus on the enterprise logistics, third party logistics and supply chain management.
  5. Managerial and operational consultation for logistics firms on business process integration, IT/IS utilization, culture change, and knowledge management.
  6. Professional training for Hong Kong and China logistics enterprises to develop high-end manpower and innovative managerial operators with research and analytical capabilities.

Collaboration with the School of Business, HKBU, and with HKLA and CILTHK, development and implementation of an executive program of Master of Logistics and Supply Chain Management for the top managers of Hong Kong and China enterprises.
