Miss Sandra Shen (Year III Applied Economics student) won the 2nd runner-up place in the Women's Junior -60kg Kumite category.

HKBU students' first attempt at the Karatedo Championship Competition has won them four awards. The 2007 Competition, organised by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong earlier this month, attracted some 130 athletes from 10 tertiary institutions.

Sandra expressed her happiness in winning the competition. This is the second time that Sandra has received an award in a karate competition. She said practising karate made her understand the Chinese saying: "Only those who endure the most rise the highest".
