| School of Business confers Honorary Professorship on Mr. Charles Li The School of Business conferred an Honorary Professorship on Mr. Charles Li (李小加先生), Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, at this year’s welcome banquet for the over 250 students of its nine postgraduate programmes on 1 September. The honour was conferred in recognition of Mr. Li’s significant contribution to the financial services sector over the years. Speaking
at the banquet, Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor,
welcomed the new postgraduate students of the School of Business. He also
highlighted the School’s recent achievements, including accreditation
by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International
(AACSB). Mr. Li shared his insights with students during a dialogue session with Professor Stephen Cheung, Dean of the School of Business. Students enthusiastically asked Mr. Li questions relating to the competitive roles that Hong Kong and Shanghai play as financial centres in China. Mr. Li said that Hong Kong would still have a significant role to play in the globalisation of the renminbi and added that as the outflow of capital from China continues, Hong Kong still has a compelling value proposition to offer with China globalising its financial markets. >>More

| The A-Team is Open for Business! The School of Business has recently launched an internship program with AIESEC and brought on five international interns. Bonnie, Dominik, Helen, Nicholas, and Shan - also known as “The A-Team”, have the goal of developing the communication skills of BBA students. One of the many new initiatives is a social program called Chit Chat Circles (C3); with the objectives to allow students a comfortable environment to practice both formal and informal uses of English as well as gain more intercultural awareness – over snacks and drinks. The first session kicked off on September 14 with lively discussions about travelling experiences and destinations. Upcoming sessions are expected to cover topics ranging from cultural foods to foreign slangs to “how to talk to the cute foreigner from across the room”. |
