Prof. CHEUNG Siu-yin is a program coordinator of graduate studies at the Department of Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University. She received her doctoral degree in Physical Education from Springfield College, MA. U.S.A.
As a prolific researcher, she has written over 40 refereed articles, 15 books and book chapters. She has received research and teaching development grants in excess of 4.5 millions, and has delivered over 170 professional and scholarly presentations at international, national, regional levels (e.g. Canada, China, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, and United States, etc). Qualitatively, her work focuses on issues of importance to scholars and professionals in the areas of sport and exercise psychology, elderly wellness, motor development and motor learning, as well as physical education. In addition to the scholarly activities, Prof. Cheung serves as reviewers and/or editorial board member in different journals (e.g. British Journal of Sports Medicine, World Leisure Journal, Journal of Sports Medicine and Sports Science, International Journal of Eastern Sports and Physical Education, etc).
As a previous gymnast herself, Prof. Cheung has a passion in gymnastics. She is the Chairperson of the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong and places different roles in the world of gymnastics (e.g. international judge and head of delegation).
Prof. Cheung has been recognized for her excellence. She was the recipient of the Medal of Honour (MH) by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government for her outstanding service in the Sir David Trench Fund Committee and valuable contribution to the promotion of gymnastics in Hong Kong. In America, she was inducted as a Research Fellow by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She had also been listed as an International Who’s Who of Professionals by the Who’s Who Historical Society as well as the Who’s Who in Hong Kong.
Finding tremendous satisfaction in her career choice, Prof. Cheung plans to continue her current capacity and promote wellness through physical education and gymnastics locally and internationally.
