Undergraduate students can choose the BBA (Hons) programme Applied Economics
or the Economic Option of the B. Sc. (Hons) China Study Programme. The former
programme consists of courses that have an emphasis of the training in
economic thinking and application of economic theories in analyzing economic issues.
There are many courses rigorous enough to offer solid foundation in economic theory
so that students who plan to pursue further study or would want to get a career
directly related to economics would find them useful. There are also courses that
emphasize applications of economic theory and can help students in their future
careers that are directly or indirectly related to economics.
The Economics option of the China Study Programme provides courses on the
Chinese economy and economic policies. These courses, together with the strong
research team of the Department, will help students in careers and future studies
related to the Chinese economy. The China Study Programme has regular and constant
joint activities with some of the universities in China, and organises frequent
activities for the students to visit China and some universities there.
The Department emphasizes the relations with the students, and encourages and helps
students organize activities for the students. The Department has close contacts
with the Economic Alumni Association, and always seeks internship and job opportunities
for the students through some of the alumni.
