 Downloading and Registering with Hot Potatoes
"Hot Potatoes is free for use by individuals or educational institutions which are non-profit making, on the condition that the material you produce using the program is freely available to anyone via the WWW."

Please check the exact conditions of use before you start using the Hot Potatoes for your own purposes: Hot Potatoes Home Page. Do not use Hot Potatoes for commercial purposes (e.g. producing fee-paying language learning sites or CD-ROMs) without obtaining a commercial license!
For the purpose of this introductory workshop, Hot Potatoes should already be downloaded to your computer. If not, call up the Hot Potatoes Home Page now and go to the downloads section.
  • Download Hot Potatoes 5.5 for your OS (normally Windows 98 or later). Use the self-extracting, auto-installing zip-file.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions.

This download will enable you to experiment with the Hot Potatoes. However, in order to make use of the full possibilities and create complete exercises, you must apply for a registration key. This is a string of code to "unlock" Hot Potatoes. To obtain the key, you must register online. Hot Potatoes will send you the code by e-mail. Registration is free (see above).
