Student Residence Halls

 

The Student Residence Halls were commissioned on 9 March 2002. They are composed of North and South Tower with four halls in one development connected with Cafeteria on G/F and communal rooms on 1/F. Each hall community consists of half of the floors of a tower which accommodates about 400 residents.

 

 

 

The Library

 



 

 

Located in Au Shue Hung Memorial Library Building on the Shaw Campus, the Main Library has a total floor area of over 7,800 square metres with a seating capacity of about 1,000.  It has a comprehensive collection of Chinese and Western books, periodicals, non-print materials, and newspaper clippings.  As of June 2006, the Library has a collection of 938,548 volumes of printed materials, and 3,549 titles of active print journal subscriptions.  There are also 119,274 items in the multimedia collections.  The Library expanded its electronic book collection to 61,501 titles on various subjects.

 

The Library currently subscribes to 161 electronic databases with access to more than 24,210 electronic journals on a variety of subjects such as ISI’s Web of Science, SciFinder, EBSCO’s Academic Search Premier, ProQuest 5000 international, and WiseNews.

 

 

 

 

The Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC)

 



The Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) provides voice telephone and computer data network telecommunication services throughout the University, computing hardware and software processing services for all members of the University community, and computer applications development and operation services for the University administration. The University computing facilities located at two major campus sites include a COMPAQ Alpha Server systems, a couple of IBM RISC 6000 server, two SUN E450 servers, 35 Novell NetWare servers, and about 3,200 Macintoshes and PCs connected to the compuswide 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, ATM and Gigabit Ethernet Network. All Network Macintoshes and PCs can access Internet services, CD-ROM services and a large number of PC software packages for DOS, Windows, Chinese Windows, OS/S, UNIX and Mac environments.

The computer facilities of the School of Business will be available to SI students; e.g. email, internet services and PC software packages.
 

 

 

Wai Hang Sports Centre

 

Wai Hang Sports Centre located at Kam Shing Road, is just across the road from Shaw Campus of Hong Kong Baptist University. The four-storey Sports Centre houses a wide range of sporting facilities, including a 25-meter long swimming pool, table-tennis room, fitness room, multi-purpose classroom, three squash courts, two tennis courts and a main hall for basketball, volleyball and badminton. Changing facilities with showers are provided. Students may book these facilities for their own use.
 

 

 

The Joint Sports Centre

 

The Joint Sports Centre at the new campus is jointly owned by Hong Kong Baptist University, City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. All facilities are of international standard and the grounds are floodlit. They include a soccer pitch, an 8-lane all weather 400 meter synthetic running track, facilities for field events, four tennis courts, two-bay golf practice area and one large multi-purpose court for basketball, volleyball, handball or five-a-side soccer field.

 

 

 

 

 

Food Services

 

Food Services - The University provides a number of restaurants on campus. and there are several others in nearby commercial shopping centres. A good variety of Chinese and Western food is provided at a range of prices. Vending machines for snacks and beverages are also available throughout the campus.
