Hong Kong Baptist University School of Business AACSB Accredited
The School of Business attained AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International) accreditation in April 2010, an elite distinction recognised worldwide as a hallmark of excellence in management education.
A Peer Review Team from AACSB International visited HKBU this January and met with staff, students and alumni of the School before recommending the School for accreditation. As quoted from the assessment report, the School was specifically commended for the following strength and effective practices:
- “The framework the School has developed for its assessment of learning program”,
- “The Honours Project involving an original research project by each student or a team of two students and mentored by a faculty member” and
- “The integrated mission-driven extracurricular activities complementing the traditional academic curriculum to support the School’s Whole-Person focus”.
The accreditation is an important endorsement that the world’s best practices are being implemented at the School. “This exciting news speaks for the University’s perseverance in upholding its Whole Person Education concept to continuously improve teaching quality and enrich students’ learning,” said Prof. Ng Ching-fai, President and Vice-Chancellor. “It also demonstrates that we have a School of Business whose excellence is recognised internationally.”
Prof. Stephen Cheung, Dean of the School of Business, said: “AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement and recognises our commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Over the years, our School has put tremendous efforts into the development and implementation of plans to meet international educational standards, such as AACSB standards.”
Founded in 1916, AACSB is the largest and the longest standing specialised accrediting agency for business and accounting programmes, with about 600 accredited members representing less than five percent of business schools worldwide. Among the notable institutions that have gained AACSB accreditation are Harvard University, the London Business School and Stanford University.
