Scholarships and Financial Support
1. Exchange Sponsorships for 2012-2013 Every student accepted to participate in the Student Exchange Programme
is eligible to receive an HKBU Exchange Sponsorship.
2. Scholarships (a) Scholarships offered through the International Office With the generous support of our donors, there are a number of merit-based and/or need-based scholarships available to eligible students. List of Available Scholarships To be considered for any of these scholarships, you must be an eligible applicant and fulfill the following requirements and conditions: - Excellent scholastic ability (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the
time of application and at the conclusion of the semester prior to the
beginning of an exchange); Please submit the completed "Application Form for Scholarships for Student Exchange Programme 2012-2013" together with your "Application for Student Exchange Programme 2012-2013" and attach the following documents: - A personal statement in 500 words in English to convince us why you
should be awarded a scholarship (for exchanges in Mainland China and Taiwan
only, please submit your personal statement in Chinese also in 500 words);
and (b) Scholarships/Financial
Support offered through the Faculties/Schools/Programmes
There are also scholarships available to you based on your major or awarded by your faculty/school.

the title. 3. University Low-Interest Loan The University offers a low-interest
loan (at 2.5% interest per annum) to students experiencing financial hardship.
Full-time Government-funded undergraduate students, who have proven financial
needs and who are Hong Kong permanent residents, are eligible to apply.
5. Conditions for the Exchange Sponsorship and the University Low-Interest
Loan The loan will be paid back in 36 installments after graduation, or in one lump sum upon withdrawal from the University or if fail to complete the exchange programme. The minimum loan amount is HK$5,000. For any loan amount above HK$5,000, it should be in multiples of HK$1,000. The maximum loan amount cannot exceed the amount as specified in the table below.

6. Disbursement The exchnage sponsorship/scholarship/University low-interest loan will be credited to students' bank accounts recorded in the University Information System "UIS" prior to their departure. To facilitate the autopay process, students are required to complete and submit the Undertaking Form for Sponsorship with a copy of HKBU student ID card, HKID card, visa/entry permit to the host country and and documentary proof of departure (air/train/vessel tickets). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
