Application Procedures:

(1) Each student can submit his/her application for ONE summer programme only.

(2) Interested students are required to submit the (a) HKBU (INTL) application form, (b) host institution application form (if applicable) together with the required documents (if any), and (c) bank-transfer or pay-in slip for the HK$3,000 enrollment fee (refundable subject to terms and conditions) to the International Office on or before 21 March 2011.

(3) All application materials must be submitted IN PERSON. Any applications submitted by representatives will not be accepted.

(4) All payments MUST be settled by bank-transfer. Cash or cheque will NOT be accepted. Enrollment fee and programme fee can be made by bank transfer to HKBU's Hang Seng Bank account #283-338-366-001. Please write your full name, student number, daytime contact number and the title of summer programme on the bank transfer/pay-in slip.

(5) There will not be any refund on the enrollment fee for withdrawal from a programme before or after its commencement.

Confirmation of Places:

(1) All successful applicants (except for applicants for the COP*) will be notified by email on 22 March 2011 and MUST submit the bank-transfer or pay-in slip for the FULL programme fee to the International Office by 5:30 p.m. on 24 March 2011.  If a student fails to do so, he/she is considered to have withdrawn his/her application automatically and the HK$3,000 enrollment fee will be forfeited.  [*COP applicants may be invited to attend a selection interview.].

(2) However, if the number of applications received for a particular programme EXCEEDS the quota, participants will be selected through a computer ballot system.

2.1 Selected students will be notified by email on 22 March 2011 and MUST submit the bank-transfer or pay-in slip for the FULL programme fee to the International Office by 5:30 p.m. on 24 March 2011.  If a student fails to do so, he/she is considered to have withdrawn his/her application automatically and the HK$3,000 enrollment fee will be forfeited.

2.2 If a place has not been filled by a selected student, the available place will be filled automatically by the next student on the waiting list (selected through the computer ballot system earlier). The chosen student will be notified by email on 25 March 2011 and MUST submit the bank-transfer or pay-in slip for the FULL programme fee to the International Office by 5:30 p.m. on 28 March 2011.  If a student fails to do so, he/she is considered to have withdrawn his/her application automatically and the HK$3,000 enrollment fee will be forfeited.

2.3 Students will be refunded the enrollment fee in full upon successful completion of the programme and submission of an evaluation and a 500-word report to the International Office (not applicable to withdrawals).

2.4 Students who have NOT been given a place for the programme will be refunded the HK$3,000 enrollment fee by mid April 2011.

Terms and Conditions:

(1) Programme fees are at subsidized rates (sponsored by HKBU).  A student may be required to refund the subsidies to the University if he/she fails to complete the programme.

(2) Programme fees paid are non-refundable unless the programme concerned is cancelled.

(3) Programme fees do not include airfares except where specified.  To allow greater flexibility in individual travel plans, students are required to make their own travel arrangements.  All programme participants are required to make themselves available at the respective locations on the required arrival dates.

(4) Students accepted to the summer programmes are responsible to apply for appropriate travel and/or transit visas.  Please contact the respective consulates/embassies for details. (Useful website)

(5) Programme modifications may be necessary, but every effort will be made to avoid any inconvenience caused to students.

(6) Each student will be issued a certificate/transcript upon successful completion of the programme by the host institution.

(7) Applications for transfer of units will be subject to the approval of the respective students' major departments.  Yet, final year students should note that any applications for transfer of units subsequent to the University's decisions on their graduation status will not be entertained.
