| Abstract | This study examines the discursive space that is permitted for dissent in one of the most popular net activities in China, namely net forums. It concerns the issue how the Chinese net forums have emerged as the "cybersphere" for dissident expression in China and how this new discursive space is constructed, controlled and contested among various forces in Chinese society which has entered a unprecedented era of market-driven industrialization and globalization. |
