2008 LEWI and IIBD Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (12-13 November 2008)

Organized by LEWI, IIBD and the Business School of Hong Kong Baptist University, the two-day conference attracted scholars and specialists from more than thirteen countries including North America, Columbia, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and mainland China. Under the broad theme of innovation and entrepreneurship, the Conference covered six topics including ˇ§Entrepreneurial Environmentˇ¨, ˇ§Entrepreneurial Orientationˇ¨, ˇ§Entrepreneurial Educationˇ¨, ˇ§Innovationˇ¨, ˇ§Entrepreneurship in Chinaˇ¨, and ˇ§Social Entrepreneurship in Hong Kongˇ¨.

The first day of the Conference opened with a keynote speech on ˇ§Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovationˇ¨ by Professor David Kirby, Founding Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science, the British University in Egypt. The keynote speech was followed by a workshop on ˇ§Entrepreneurship in Chinaˇ¨, conducted by Dr. Ren Bing, Associate Professor of Management, Nankai University and Dr. Yang Jun, Lecturer, School of Business, Nankai University. Four parallel paper sessions were held in the afternoon on the same day.

The second day of the Conference included a workshop by Professor Kirby on ˇ§Entrepreneurship in Educationˇ¨, three parallel sessions and a forum on Social Entrepreneurship in Hong Kong.

The Conference attracted over a hundred participants, among which ten were from LEWI and IIBD member institutions.
