All of the teaching staff in the School's MBA programmes are full-time faculty members who have done extensive teaching, research, and consultancy in their fields. The School faculty sometimes form research teams to take part in consultancy projects organised by the Institute for Enterprise Development (IED) . Our staff also act as advisors and executive committee members in numerous private and public organisations and professional bodies.

From time to time, business and community leaders are invited to conduct special lectures or seminars to broaden the students' perspective and understanding of the business environment. In addition, the School invites prominent academics from the United States, China and Europe to serve as Visiting Scholars for periods ranging from six months to a year. These scholars help the School to keep abreast of innovations in MBA teaching, and provide international contacts for research.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods used in the programme are aimed at integrating the study of formal theory and the development of work-related skills within each subject area. Emphasis is placed on active, problem-centered learning through the analysis and discussion of cases and problems. Informative lectures are integrated with a participative tutorial approach, and the completion of problem-centered assignments and projects. China focus is reflected in the large number of invited guest speakers from China, as well as in course activities.

Non-classroom activities are also an important feature of the programme, and they include study tours, China field study, in-company projects, seminars and skill workshops etc. All these are important in bringing our students to the frontier of current business issues and real-life exposure of the business environment and practices of Hong Kong and selected locations in China and the Asia-Pacific region.

Medium of Instruction

English is the official medium of instruction, although those subjects with a special China focus may be taught in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
