Message from the MBA Programme Director The HKBU MBA programme has firmly established itself in the marketplace as a China focused MBA programme. The programme is designed with a general theme of international business, balanced by a China focus. The curriculum balances the need for executives to acquire a global mindset, while also appreciates the thrust to understand how to do business in mainland China . Apart from the curriculum, the China focus is also reflected in activities organised with our mainland students, graduates and companies. Hong Kong students are given opportunities to engage in learning and social activities with our Mainland MBA students, who typically are senior business executives. These interactive activities enrich the learning experiences of both groups of students as well as expand networking opportunities. Our experienced faculty members, prominent business practitioners and visiting scholars have brought to the programme a wealth of experience in and solid understanding of the China market. In addition to our competitive China focus, we also take pride in the practical “live learning” activities that are firmly incorporated into our programme – the Business Field Study, study tours, seminar series, and managerial skills workshops. These, coupled with the practical final-year MBA Project whereby students are required to produce a client-based consultancy report for a selected company, provide students with the much-needed hands-on experience and knowledge to become an all-round business executive standing in the forefront of the business world. Students on the programme are also encouraged to bring their own experiences into the classroom, to build upon such experiences and those of others, and to apply what they have learnt to their own workplace. If you have a desire to learn more about China business and doing business in or with China, a desire to apply theory to real business situations, and an interest in sharing experiences with senior business managers in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, I sincerely encourage you to join our MBA programme.
