General and Professional Studies Division (GPS Division)

The School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the eight Faculties/Schools of the University which operates on a self-financed basis, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes including degree, advanced diploma, diploma, certificate programmes and short courses in various academic disciplines and professional areas in its teaching and learning centres which are located throughout the territory in Sheung Wan, Wan Chai, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon Tong, Kwun Tong and Shek Mun (Shatin).  The School is now seeking for energetic and entrepreneurial individuals with expertise and experience for the following positions to join its team of GPS Division:

1.   Senior Academic Advisor (English Language) (To be appointed at Senior Lecturer rank)

The incumbent will serve as leader of Jockey Club Centre for the Advancement of English for Professionals (CAEP).   In addition to some part-time teaching and the normal course development work required of an Academic Advisor, he/she is expected to assist the School to expand its English language training provisions to enhance the proficiency of individuals from all walks of life in various SCE Learning Centres.

The appointee should possess a higher degree, preferably a doctorate, in English or Linguistics with at least seven years of relevant experience in training and education.   Applicant(s) with less experience (and qualifications) may consider for the post of Academic Advisor (to be appointed at Lecturer I/II rank).

2.   Academic Advisor (Communication/Social Work) (To be appointed at Lecturer I/II rank)

The appointee(s) will be responsible for teaching, course development and quality assurance activities such as class visits, review of teaching plans, moderation of examination papers, and supervision of part-time instructors in either the Communication or the Social Sciences programme areas.

The applicant should possess a higher degree in the related disciplines with at least five years of teaching / field work experience. Ability to demonstrate integrated knowledge in a combination of disciplines would be an added advantage.

Approximate monthly salary:
Senior Lecturer     :HK$46,600 ¡V 65,100
Lecturer I                :HK$32,200 ¡V 51,000
Lecturer II                :HK$23,900 ¡V 31,100

3.   Programme Administrator (PR061/08-09)

The appointee will be responsible for performing general administrative duties for the Jockey Club Centre for the Advancement of English for Professionals (CAEP); providing secretarial services to meetings; and providing assistance in the planning and implementation of projects and training programmes of the Division which are funded by various Government bodies and large corporations.

Applicants should possess a good first degree with at least 3 years of work experience.   Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese is expected. He/She should be a dynamic individual with a flair for marketing and publicity work.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend a written test.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
