Aerobic Fitness and Conditioning P.E.1630

  Neuromuscular Relaxation

The ability to reduce or eliminate unnecessary tension or contraction in muscle groups.

Progressive Muscular Relaxation

This technique involves progressive and sequential contraction and relaxation of muscles throughout the body, and usually rhythmic breathing is also practised with this technique.

Imagery

Imagery is similar to day-dreaming but more systematic. When practising this technique, one typically imagines being in a quiet and beautiful environment (e.g. a beach), bodily functions tend to slow down and muscle tension also tends to decrease when the body reaches a relaxed state.
