PPS Member's Profile: Peter B. Bloch

Hello, my name is Peter. This first version of my Philopsychy Society Member's Profile has been on the web since 12/19/96. I am an Administrative Judge (Legal), for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. I am responsible for judging, often as chairman of a three-judge board containing two technical experts, cases involving the licensing of nuclear power plants, handling of nuclear materials, and enforcement cases. In 1987 I founded the Foundation for the Future, an organization that offers regular seminars and retreats, either without payment or for entirely voluntary payments. In this work, I use a variety of approaches to teach meditation and to help to clear away barriers to effective meditation. I use the techniques of Gestalt therapy as part of my work, which also is highly intuitive and spiritual. I am interested in Meditation, Mediation, Gestalt Therapy, Counseling, Group Facilitation (holding religious or inter-religious retreats), Law, and Christianity (with a liberal flavor). You can contact me by e-mail at peterbb@erols.com, or by conventional post at:

My WWW home page is located at: http://iypn.com/silence. It has many links to interfaith sites, meditation sites and the best on the web.

Something I've written that might be of some interest to you is called One World*One God*Many Faces. My autobiography and spiritual musings. The story of a Jewish, Unitarian, Baha'i, Hindu (Gurumayi Chidvilasananda), Unity, Quaker, Christian.. It is self-published (photocopied). Peter Bloch 1994. It is available in computerized form at: http://iypn.com/silence (offers book free)

I've also written the following: Interfaith Meditation Manual, 1994 (also Chapter 9 of book). It is available free in electronic form from my home page or by request to my E-mail address.

For the time being, I do not wish to trade any of the above for writings by other Society members.

Finally, just so you can get to know me a little, here's something special I'd like you to know:

I was born into a secular Jewish family in 1940 and at age 5 I refused to believe in a God that would permit the Holocaust, slavery, the death of my parents and my own death. This began an earnest quest for God in which I learned to appreciate many ways to seek the divine presence, which is awe inspiring and beyond the reach of words.

My book, One World*One God*Many Faces, is an autobiography and contains my spiritual musings. My purpose in making the book available free is to permit others to consider my experiences and, if they are resonant, to benefit from them. There is nothing I want more than to bring individuals and the world in general closer to God. I want to promote a faith that is real, extending from belief into the world of action.

I love to teach retreats that are tailored to the people who request them and I am ready to travel to the places where retreats are in demand. I am fortunate not to need much money from my teaching work, so my weekly seminars are free. My retreats are given in exchange for travel and other expenses and to help me to have money to promote further retreats.

Although I am a lawyer, skilled in verbal interpretation, I believe that we know God best with our heart and that we help to heal the world when we heal our own heart and shed our warmth and light on others. I treasure the people who request my book and who take my seminars. They enrich my life.
