Hello, my name is Tammy. This first version of my Philopsychy Society Member's Profile was submitted on March 19, 1999 . I'm a systems analyst/programmer supporting student systems applications for Washington State University. In addition, I am a non-traditional, part-time undergraduate student in psychology, with the eventual goal of Ph.D. While I appreciate and respect the focus and concerns of this group, I am at present uncertain about my faith in the existence of *soul*, as an immaterial, eternal part of the self. The more I ponder the functions of the brain, the more convinced I am that it is the sole seat of the self, and all there is to the self. I'm interested in biological and clinical (cognitive-behavioral) psychology. I like to write short fiction, but have never submitted any of my stories for publication. You can contact me by e-mail at aphelinus@earthlink.net, or by conventional post at:

I do not yet have a WWW home page.
Something I've written that might be of some interest to you is called A small collection of short-fiction, poetry and autobiographical work..... Stuff I wrote for fun, exploration and catharsis. It is unpublished (not yet looking for a publisher). It is available in computerized form (but not on the WWW).
Other Society members are invited to contact me if they are interested in trading their writings for any of the above.
Finally, just so you can get to know me a little, here's something special I'd like you to know:
I would describe myself as caring, compassionate and concerned with the welfare of others. I love to cook, and have considerable talent in the kitchen. My favorite cuisines are Indian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Thai. Other interests include humor, natural history, kayaking, philosophy, camping and backpacking, landscape design and books of all sorts - but not necessarily in that order. ;-)
