Over 200 Social Work students and alumni attended a Social Work Alumni Reunion Dinner on 28 October to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of HKBU. The dinner was jointly organised by the Social Work Alumni Association, the Social Work Learning and Exchange Foundation Fund, the Department of Social Work, the Social Work Society and the Alumni Affairs Office.
At the dinner, Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, led the cake-cutting and toasting ceremony, while Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), shared on the University’s plan to improve service learning opportunities for students. He called for alumni support to be an integral part of this meaningful project.
Meanwhile, the School of Business organised an alumni gathering with the School of Business Alumni Association and the HKBU Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma on 27 October. The gathering, which was attended by nearly 160 alumni and current students from HKBU, featured a sharing session by Mr Teddy Lui, Operations Director of the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, a not-for-profit initiative launched by the Alibaba Group to support budding entrepreneurs based in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Mr Lui advised entrepreneurs to always be willing to learn from constructive criticism, and to never stop seeking support from investors. He also expressed his hope that more organisations will join the initiative and encourage innovative thinking among young people in Hong Kong.
