HKBU holds Entrepreneur Day to showcase award winning projects

The University held its Entrepreneur Day 2017 on 15 May to showcase HKBU’s outstanding entrepreneurship projects and its award-winning research.

The officiating guests launching the event included Secretary for Innovation and Technology Mr Nicholas Yang, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology Ms Annie Choi, Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Mr Stephen Liang, and HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin.

On the occasion, awards were presented to winners of the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva 2017, the HKBU Knowledge Transfer Awards and the winning teams of the entrepreneurship boot camp.

This year, the HKBU Knowledge Transfer Award went to Dr Timothy Fung, Assistant Professor of the Department of Communications Studies; and Dr Kelvin Lee, Senior Lecturer of the Academy of Film of the School of Communication. Their exemplary narrative animation project to enhance youngsters’ willingness to engage in family discussions on organ donation has contributed greatly to public health and service.

The HKBU Innovationem Award was presented to Associate Vice-President and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine Professor Bian Zhao-xiang. The award was for his invention of the Chinese herbal medicine for treating irritable bowel syndrome, one of the most common functional gastrointestinal disorders.
