Hong Kong Book Fair’s Art Gallery showcases books by HKBU scholars

Dr Fan Wing-chung’s book recreates the stories of his childhood on a public housing estate, as well as those of his sister and brother-in-law.
The Dictionary of Two Cities, Vol. 2 is a collection of stories that describe the people and events in Hong Kong based on newly-coined words.

 

Two Chinese literary works authored by Dr Fan Wing-chung, Senior Lecturer of the Department of History, and Dr Dorothy Tse, Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, (with the Chinese names of 我們都是這樣在屋邨長大的 and 雙城辭典2, respectively) were selected for showcase in the “City Literature” special zone in the Art Gallery of this year’s Hong Kong Book Fair. A total of 25 literary works were selected to be featured in the zone.

The Hong Kong Book Fair was held from 20 to 26 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The literary works displayed in the “City Literature” special zone covered Hong Kong’s urban landscape, people and way of life as their themes. They give readers an in-depth understanding of the stories of Hong Kong, and allow them to reminisce about unique aspects of the city.
