HKBU students organise summer programme for primary school students

Tuesday, 6 September 2022

The Leadership Qualities Centre of the Office of Student Affairs organised the “Summer School 2022 @ Imagination Lab” programme on 12, 15 to 17 and 20 August for 80 primary four to six students. The programme aimed to increase primary school students’ motivation for learning, and it hoped to inspire their creative thinking through diversified summer activities.

Twenty HKBU students spent more than two months organising the programme. They designed a series of learning activities based on the themes of teamwork and creative thinking. They also organised excursions, sports activities and film screenings. The graduation ceremony of the programme was held on 20 August.

Bee Wong, a Year 3 HKBU student and member of the programme’s organising committee, said that the programme provided an invaluable opportunity for primary students to participate in face-to-face activities during a lull in the pandemic situation. It also allowed members of the organising committee to contribute to and serve the community. Lo Sum-yuet, a primary six student, said she created a “dream house” model with her teammates in one of the programme’s activities, which helped her realise the importance of teamwork during the creation process.

“Summer School 2022 @ Imagination Lab” was sponsored by Wofoo Social Entreprises and the HKBU Century Club. Please click here for the programme video.
