Intellectual property forum explores AI and innovation

The Knowledge Transfer Office hosted the HKBU Intellectual Property Forum on 29 October with the theme “Can AI be the Master of Creation?”. The event brought together esteemed intellectual property experts from both the government and private sectors, who illuminated a diverse array of topics related to AI and innovation, including the implications of AI on copyright law, showcasing the challenges and opportunities present in the field of intellectual property in the era of AI.

Ms Sandra Hui, Assistant Director (Copyright) of the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government; Dr Wingco Lo, President of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong; and Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, delivered welcome speeches at the forum. Distinguished guest speakers included representatives from the Intellectual Property Department,  the International IP Commercialization Council, Deacons, P C Woo & Co, Solicitors & Notaries, and HKBU. The event attracted approximately 140 participants, both in-person and online.
