HKBU’s innovative research projects took the spotlight at the 4th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong (AEII), the 28th National Invention Exhibition-One Belt One Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition, and the Maker in China SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest (MiC Global Contest) 2024 Final and its Hong Kong Chapter (MiCHK) 2024 Final.
HKBU received one gold medal and two silver medals in AEII held in Hong Kong on 5 and 6 December. The event was organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association in collaboration with Palexpo, the organiser of the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva.
Gold medallist:
• Tryptophan sulfonate: a new chemical marker for accurate and efficient inspection of sulfur-treated food products - Dr Xu Jun, Assistant Professor of the Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine
Silver medallists:
• Flavan-3-OL Analogs and Anti-inflammatory Activity - Professor Wang Jun, Department of Chemistry
• A Composition for Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis - Professor Yu Zhiling, Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine
MiC Global Contest, organised by the SME Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the China International Cooperation Association of SMEs, was held in Nansha on 3 December.
MiCHK, organised by the Digital Policy Office of the HKSAR Government, the China Centre for Promotion of SME Development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, the Department of Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, and the China International Cooperation Association of SMEs, was held in Hong Kong on 26 September.
The “All-scenario rapid testing platform against antimicrobial resistance” project by Dr Ren Kangning, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry secured third place at both the MiC Global Contest and MiCHK.
HKBU was awarded one gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal at the 28th National Invention Exhibition-One Belt One Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition held from 11 to 13 December in Zhongshan City:
