The COVID-19 pandemic has brought great challenges to businesses and industries worldwide. Foreseeing the challenges the graduating cohort will encounter during the current economic downturn, the HKBU community has joined together to explore practical ways to support graduating students under Project SEED (Students Engagement, Enhancement, and Development).

The new initiative aims to encourage students to engage more extensively with the community at large, enrich their outlook on life, and develop their professional competency for a rewarding career and, eventually, a fulfilling life.

Taking the Project forward, around 200 alumni and supporters of HKBU have participated in four online dialogue sessions with the University management team in April to exchange views and brainstorm ideas on the four core areas of the Project, namely SEED Mentorship, SEED Jobs, SEED Internship, and SEED Incubator.

Working in concert, the HKBU community has been assisting students and the graduating class on several fronts:

  1. SEED Mentorship: a stage-by-stage mentorship development programme is put in place to engage alumni in mentoring students on their personal and career development
  2. SEED Jobs: career opportunities are successfully solicited for graduates, while there have been ongoing arrangements of job consultations, business referrals and references
  3. SEED Internship: part-time work, internship experience and job attachment opportunities are provided to students and graduates
  4. SEED Incubator: training workshops and experience sharing sessions are planned with the aim of supporting student start-up ventures
