Students keen to pursue a career in the entertainment business or the arts, cultural and creative industries have found themselves the perfect stepping stone with the transdisciplinary programme, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration (Global Entertainment). Launched in 2022, the programme offers a savvy combination of courses, ranging from creative entrepreneurship, artist management to entertainment law, business ethics and marketing, just to name a few. Students also get to gain hands-on experience with overseas internships at film or record companies in the APAC region.

According to Dr Edmond Tsang, the Programme Director and Lecturer of the Academy of Music, the syllabus is designed to equip students with the business acumen and versatility needed to thrive in the fluid entertainment industry. “Having been exposed to different disciplines, our students will be competitive enough to take on a wide range of roles upon graduation, such as content development, licensing, distribution, financing and event management, namely all the essential functions that keep the industry running.

“We also encourage them to be as proactive as possible in their learning journey. If there are companies they’d like to intern with, they are encouraged to make a pitch for themselves. As their instructors, we will guide them every step of the way, leveraging our industry networks and experience,” says Dr Tsang.

In addition to its transdisciplinary approach, the programme enriches the students’ learning experience by providing them with state-of-the-art learning facilities, such as the Augmented Reality Lab, Creative Robotics Lab and the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity which will be opened in 2023/24.

“The entertainment business needs talents with fresh, creative mindsets, both on stage and behind the scenes. We hope our graduates can fill this gap with their all-rounded portfolio while doing something they love at the same time,” Dr Tsang highlights.
