The International Writers' Workshop (IWW) of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will host its second annual Literary Festival from 17 to 20 March with the theme "Humanity and the Planet". The Festival will feature five international Writers-in-Residence who will explore the various ways that writing can help to re-imagine the dominant influence of human actions on the climate and environment.
The five international writers who will participate in the Festival are Vladimir Poleganov from Bulgaria, Gili Haimovich from Israel, Cristina Sánchez-Andrade from Spain, Anna Tolkacheva from Russia and Gabriel Payares from Venezuela. They will share their insights at different events, such as the opening conversation, a literary reading, panel discussions and writing workshops.
All events will be held online and they are free of charge. Further details of the Festival can be found on the webpage (https://artsbu.hkbu.edu.hk/page/detail/1063) or Facebook page (http://facebook.com/hkbuiww) of IWW. Those who are interested in joining can register online (https://bit.ly/3qVHkms).
Founded in 2004, IWW is one of the signature programmes of the Faculty of Arts at HKBU. IWW has hosted over 130 writers from around 55 different countries, and it remains one of the few writers-in-residence programmes in Asia. A self-funded, non-profit initiative, IWW continues to be an important and historically significant programme promoting cultural and educational activities in Hong Kong, and it remains a long-standing part of HKBU's commitment to the literary arts.
