HKBU MA in Visual Arts graduation exhibition breaks norms with creativity

Sunday, 16 July 2023

The Master of Arts in Visual Arts Graduation Show organised by the Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is being held from today (16 July) to 30 July at the University’s Kai Tak Campus. The exhibition, with the theme “Eccentric”, features the artistic works of 38 graduates.

“Eccentric” originates from the Greek word ekkentros, which means “off centre”. The exhibition aims to break away from the mundane norms and interact with the world in an out-of-the-ordinary way, with each exhibit embodying the spirit of being “Eccentric”.

Embracing a wide range of mediums and styles, the exhibits challenge and re-explore the existing boundaries, and venture into uncharted territory. Among them, there is work utilising virtual reality (VR) technology to allow participants to experience the exhibit with a VR headset. Other works include incorporating traditional embroidery and offbeat contemporary style with needle and thread, or using miniature painting to inspire viewers to appreciate the often-overlooked details or moments of life.

Members of the public who are interested in visiting the exhibition are required to make an online reservation via this link.
