Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions today (7 October). The response of secondary school students, parents and teachers to the event was overwhelming. It attracted over 17,000 people to visit HKBU’s campuses in Kowloon Tong in person to participate in various activities, and gather admissions and programme information. The number of participants increased by 2,000 compared to last year.

The HKBU Information Day was held as scheduled under the No.3 Strong Wind Signal. The event was open from 9:30am. Due to the increasing number of participants, the event’s end time was extended from 5:00pm to 5:30pm.

There were three admissions talks tailored respectively for students with HKDSE, Associate Degree/Higher Diploma and international qualifications. In addition, there was a distinctive lecture on “Nurturing Future Ready Students: Transdisciplinary and Technology” providing insights on how HKBU prepares students for future challenges. Students, parents and teachers attended these four talks online or in person to learn about the latest admission information.

Meanwhile, HKBU faculties and schools, including the Faculty of Arts, School of Business, School of Chinese Medicine, School of Communication, School of Creative Arts, School of Continuing Education, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Sciences, together with the Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes established for transdisciplinary programmes, offered around 80 programme talks/thematic talks. The activities were held physically on the HKBU campuses and/or broadcast live online, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse learning experiences and teaching facilities at HKBU.

Apart from the talks, participants had the chance to experience the University's latest art-tech, cutting-edge facilities, as well as workshops and demonstrations in areas such as news production, live scoring, glassblowing, and jewellery-making. Many of them also took the opportunity to interact with current students, alumni and teachers, gaining insights and latest information about different faculties and schools, and the wide array of programmes offered. The students of the Academy of Music, Dance Society and Department of Sport, Physical Education and Health delivered an impressive performance, attracting a large number of audience.

The videos of the four admissions talks and programme talks of the facilities/schools will be uploaded on the HKBU Information Day website (https://infoday.hkbu.edu.hk).
