Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held the “HKBU Foundation 15th Anniversary.ASHWORTH Golf Day 2024” on 8 November at the Eden Course of The Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. The event attracted over 220 guests, with 166 of them forming 43 teams to compete for 30 awards. A record-breaking HK$2.8 million was successfully raised for the HKBU Foundation to support the University’s strategic development, particularly in launching sports science research and funding students’ participation in the “Extended Study Programme” in the Greater Bay Area and overseas exchange activities.
The event has been sponsored by the Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation through the clothing brand ASHWORTH for five consecutive years. ASHWORTH also sponsored the event’s golf shirts for the fourth consecutive year. Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the HKBU Foundation, Harmony Auto sponsored a BYD electric vehicle worth over HK$410,000 as the grand prize for achieving a hole-in-one on the 17th hole.
Officiating at the cheque presentation ceremony cum ceremonial tee-off were Mr Andrew Chan, representative of the Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation and ASHWORTH; Mr Allan Kwong, President and Chief Executive of Regal Holdings Corporation and the event’s venue sponsor; Mr Xu Ting, Chief Representative of BYD Hong Kong; Mr Ivan Wong, Co-Chairman of KF KK Foundation Limited; Mr Daniel O’Neill, Director of Golf of The Hong Kong Golf Club; Dr Ronald Lu, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Golf Day; Dr Stanley Yim, Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation; and together with Mr Paul Poon, Deputy Chairman of the Council and the Court; Professor Martin Wong, Provost; Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School and Acting Dean of School of Chinese Medicine; Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary of HKBU; Professor Rick Wong, Senior Advisor to the President and Vice-Chancellor; and Mrs Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement of HKBU and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
Since its inception in 2004, HKBU’s Golf Day has raised over HK$37.3 million.
