Chairman's message

Guided by our mission to provide holistic education and advance the frontier of knowledge that impacts both our local community and the broader global landscape, we have aligned our strategies with key national development blueprints. This includes supporting the national 14th Five-Year Plan's vision for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange and contributing to the 2024-2035 Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education. To advance these aspirations, we have intensified our focus on transdisciplinary integration, pedagogical innovation and strategic research. By translating innovative research into practical applications, we aim to benefit society, drive knowledge transfer and nurture future-ready leaders with a global outlook and the ability to meet emerging challenges.

This year, we celebrated important milestones that highlight our long-standing commitment to education: the 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of the School of Continuing Education and the 20th anniversary of Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University. These anniversaries reflect our deep commitment to promoting lifelong learning and fostering academic excellence for future generations.

Building on this legacy, we were delighted to launch two landmark projects that mark a significant advancement in our institutional journey. In March 2025, we celebrated the grand opening of the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity. As a cornerstone of our Institutional Strategic Plan 2018-2028, this new campus provides a home for over 1,700 students and offers cutting-edge facilities dedicated to creative disciplines. Designed with sustainability at its core, this new campus was honoured with a Merit Award at the Green Building Award 2025. More than just a residence and learning space, it serves as a dynamic hub for innovation and collaboration, poised to foster creative education and acts as a bridge for cultural and academic exchange, directly supporting Hong Kong’s role as an international cultural crossroads.

On 11 December 2025, The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) commenced its phased operations. HKBU has been selected by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to serve as the contractor for the service deed of this historic initiative. As Hong Kong's first Chinese medicine hospital and a teaching hospital for three local universities, CMHHK stands not only as a flagship institution but also as a transformative agent. Through its core pillars of research innovation, talent development and clinical services, CMHHK is committed to advancing the development of Chinese medicine locally, across the Greater Bay Area, and internationally, allowing this invaluable cultural heritage to thrive within modern healthcare systems and benefit communities worldwide.

It is your unwavering commitment that enables us to take pride in shaping the educational landscape of Hong Kong and beyond and to strengthen the "Study in Hong Kong" brand in close collaboration with the HKSAR Government and the wider community.
