The University recently received a generous donation of HK$200,000 from Mr. Alex Ko and a total of HK$100,000 from Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Ltd. in 2012 and 2013 to support the academic and promotional activities of its Centre for Olympic Studies. In recognition of the donors’ generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony was held yesterday (13 March).
Officiating at the ceremony were Mr. Alex Ko, Ms Megumi Ose, Managing Director of Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Ltd., Professor Adrian Bailey, Dean of Social Sciences, and Professor Patrick Lau, Associate Head of the Department of Physical Education and Director of the Centre for Olympic Studies.
The Centre was established jointly by HKBU, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China, and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in 2007. It aims to promote Olympism and Olympic education in Hong Kong by organising seminars, workshops and other educational activities as well as maintaining a database on Olympic education.
